Whilst "Burragumbilli" may mean "fish wait for the spear", others believe that a local character named the site where kookaBURRA's gathered in GUMtrees at dusk awaiting leftovers as he boiled his BILLY.

Rich in resources, Burragumbilli attracted prospectors to the red hills & plains beyond, farmers to its volcanic soils, and fishermen to its prolific waters. Legend has it that amongst the early settlers was a brewer who, from locally grown produce, made an outstanding beer using an original old-world recipe. Today the legend is kept alive by those in search of the liquid
‘cold gold’, as we bring to you this exceptional organic lager, handcrafted in the Burragumbilli tradition.

Premium certified organic malted barley, matured in deep rich volcanic soils (chocolates and reds) and quenched by pure rainwater and moisture-laden sea breezes, compliment the quality certified organic hops from higher valleys where cool bubbling mountain springs refresh. Our Certified Organic ingredients are produced on farms with environmentally sustainable production systems. They are at the forefront of intelligent, resilient agriculture - recycling energy and nutrients, protecting and enhancing water and soil ecology and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Increasing organic matter levels in the soil stores/sequesters significant amounts of carbon, which is the major ingredient in Humus.
Humus in organic matter also supplies soil nutrients to crops, stores water, improves soil structure and maintains a healthy living community within the soil. Hence, increasing organic matter levels in the soil is one of the most important jobs of the organic farmer, both for the quality of the soil and the quality of the air.

Our organic farmers do not use fossil fuel based inputs, such as synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, particularly nitrogen fertilizer, which is agriculture’s single biggest contributor to green house emissions.

As a geologist, commercial organic farmer, and owner of Koala Beer Pty Ltd,
I support sustainable, organic agriculture, because it has lower overall green house gas emissions and actually removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
